What You're Doing Now vs. What Nydar Does
The data that moves forex is publicly available — it's just spread across a dozen sites, each updating at different times. Here's what changes when it's all in one place.
| Task | The Manual Way | With Nydar |
|---|---|---|
| Knowing when to trade | Memorising session times and mentally tracking which overlaps are active | Visual session map with live open/closed status and overlap highlighting |
| Preparing for news events | Checking Forex Factory, central bank sites, and news feeds separately | Integrated economic calendar with impact ratings and pre-event alerts via app or Telegram |
| Finding the best pair to trade | Guessing which currencies are strong or weak by checking multiple charts | Currency strength heatmap — instantly see which economies are trending strongest and weakest |
| Managing correlated positions | Not realising EUR/USD and GBP/USD are 85% correlated and doubling your USD exposure | Correlation matrix showing how all your pairs move together — spot hidden risk before it bites |
| Testing a strategy | Risking real money on an untested approach, or using a spreadsheet to simulate | Paper trade with $100k virtual capital using live prices, full P&L tracking, and portfolio analytics |
What the Numbers Mean
Forex has its own vocabulary. Here's what the key metrics on your dashboard actually measure.
Currency Strength Index
A composite score measuring how a currency is performing against all other majors over a rolling period. A currency scoring +80 is strong across the board; -80 means it's weak against everything.
The edge: pair the strongest currency against the weakest for the highest-conviction directional trades. Currency strength analysis draws on the relative value framework described by Irene Aldridge in High-Frequency Trading (Wiley, 2nd edition, 2013).
Session Overlaps
The highest-volume and highest-volatility windows in forex are when two sessions overlap. London/New York (1pm-5pm GMT) is the most liquid window — spreads tighten and moves are cleanest.
Tokyo/London overlap (8am-9am GMT) is the second-best window, especially for JPY and EUR pairs.
Correlation
How closely two pairs move together, from +1.0 (perfectly correlated) to -1.0 (inverse). EUR/USD and GBP/USD often sit at +0.85 — going long on both is almost doubling the same bet.
Use correlation to diversify (pick uncorrelated pairs) or to hedge (pair a long with a negatively correlated long).
Economic Calendar Impact
Events are rated HIGH, MEDIUM, or LOW impact. High-impact events (NFP, rate decisions) can move pairs 50-150 pips in seconds. Medium events (retail sales, PMI) typically move 20-50 pips.
The surprise factor matters most — a rate hold when the market expected a cut moves more than a widely-anticipated hike. Research by Andersen, Bollerslev, Diebold, and Vega (Journal of the American Statistical Association, 2003) demonstrated that macroeconomic news surprises account for the majority of short-term FX volatility.
